9 July 2026 | Pulse Grande Hotel, Putrajaya
The Association of Construction Project Managers Malaysia (ACPM) was invited by the Galvanizers Association of Malaysia (GAM) to participate in the Hot Dip Galvanizing Forum 2026, held on 9 July 2026 at Pulse Grande Hotel, Putrajaya.
Adding significance to ACPM’s participation, PMr Sr Dr Wan Maimun Wan Abdullah, President of ACPM, was invited as a speaker at the forum, providing an important platform for ACPM to share professional perspectives on the challenges and future direction of Malaysia’s construction industry.
Malaysian Construction Industry: Challenges and Leadership Paradigm
PMr Sr Dr Wan Maimun delivered a presentation entitled “Malaysian Construction Industry: Challenges and Leadership Paradigm.”
The presentation addressed the evolving challenges faced by Malaysia’s construction sector and highlighted the need for a shift towards a more collaborative, resilient, ethical and future-ready industry.
A key message was that the challenges affecting construction should not be viewed solely as the responsibility of contractors. The industry operates through an interconnected ecosystem and value chain, where challenges involving labour, cost, sustainability, supply chains and project execution can ultimately affect overall project delivery.
Moving the industry forward therefore requires shared responsibility, stronger collaboration and a change in leadership mindset across the construction ecosystem.
Learning Beyond the Construction Industry
An interesting perspective highlighted during the presentation was the opportunity for the construction industry to benchmark successful practices from other sectors and adapt them to its own context.
Lessons highlighted included ecosystem collaboration, safety culture, multidisciplinary teamwork, innovation and agility, lean productivity, supply chain visibility, risk governance, strategic sustainability, customer experience and lifelong learning.
These examples reinforced the importance of looking beyond traditional construction practices and learning from other industries in developing a more integrated and progressive construction ecosystem.
Strengthening Industry Dialogue
ACPM’s participation in the forum provided another valuable platform to engage with professionals and stakeholders beyond the traditional project management community.
For construction project managers, understanding developments in materials, technology, sustainability, supply chains and asset performance is increasingly important as projects become more complex and multidisciplinary.
The opportunity to contribute to the Hot Dip Galvanizing Forum also reflects the importance of bringing project management and leadership perspectives into wider industry discussions.
Towards a More Collaborative Construction Industry
The forum provided an opportunity for ACPM to reinforce an important principle — successful project delivery depends not on one party alone, but on the collective performance of the entire construction ecosystem.
Through continued engagement with industry organisations, ACPM remains committed to promoting professional competency, collaborative leadership, knowledge sharing and better project delivery practices across Malaysia’s construction industry.
Appreciation to Galvanizers Association of Malaysia
ACPM extends its appreciation to the Galvanizers Association of Malaysia (GAM) for the invitation and for providing ACPM President PMr Sr Dr Wan Maimun Wan Abdullah with the opportunity to share ACPM’s professional perspectives with the industry.
ACPM looks forward to continued engagement and knowledge exchange with GAM and other industry organisations towards building a more productive, resilient and future-ready Malaysian construction industry.
