WHO IS ACPM?
Association of Construction Project Managers Malaysia
The Association of Construction Project Managers Malaysia (ACPM) is the national professional association representing construction project management practitioners in Malaysia.
Established in 2012 and registered under the Registrar of Societies (ROS) Malaysia, ACPM was formed with the objective of advancing the practice, competency and professional standing of construction project managers within the Malaysian construction industry.
ACPM brings together experienced practitioners from various disciplines including project management, engineering, architecture, quantity surveying, construction management, property development and project consultancy. Through professional development, industry engagement and knowledge sharing, ACPM serves as a platform for promoting excellence in project delivery and leadership throughout the construction sector
Our Story
Construction projects today are becoming increasingly complex. Modern developments require coordination between multiple stakeholders, consultants, contractors, authorities, financiers and end users, often under demanding constraints of cost, time, quality, safety and sustainability.
While many professions involved in construction are supported by established professional bodies and statutory recognition, the role of the Construction Project Manager has often been less clearly understood despite being central to the successful delivery of projects.
Recognising this gap, a group of academics, industry practitioners and project management professionals came together to establish ACPM as a dedicated professional body for construction project managers in Malaysia.
Since then, ACPM has continued to advocate for greater recognition of project management as a distinct professional discipline and to support the development of competent project leaders capable of managing increasingly complex built environment projects.
Why Construction Project Management Matters?
Construction Project Managers play a critical role in translating project objectives into successful outcomes.
They are responsible for coordinating the various disciplines involved in a project and ensuring that project goals are achieved safely, efficiently and responsibly.
A Construction Project Manager is often required to oversee:
Project planning and execution
Cost and budget control
Time and schedule management
Contract administration
Stakeholder coordination
Risk management
Quality assurance
Health, Safety and Environmental compliance
Project close-out and handover
Effective project management contributes directly to project success and helps safeguard public interests through better governance, accountability and decision-making.
